Homeland Stores, the premium grocery supermarket chain in Oklahoma, will open a store in northeast Oklahoma City and will place its headquarters near that store, The Black Chronicle has learned.
The new store will be located at NE 36th Street and Lincoln Boulevard.
The Buy for Less chain recently closed its Smart Saver store at NE 23rd Street and Martin Luther King Avenue.
Last week, that company said it would place an Uptown store in the shopping center at NE 36th Street and N. Kelley Avenue.
That upscale store will fill the space previously used by Save-a-Lot, which closed earlier this year after a short stay in that location.
The plan for the Homeland headquarters in the quadrant was particularly well-received.
Much earlier, the Buy for Less chain had pledged to greatly improve its store at the NE 23rd and MLK location and said it would greatly renovate that entire area.
That plan, apparently, fell through after the major renovations of the shopping center at NE 36th and N. Kelley were undertaken.
About three weeks ago, the Buy for Less firm announced it would close its store at NE 23rd and MLK.
Then, last week, that firm said it would place an upscale store in the shopping center at NE 36th and N. Kelley in about 90 days.
